Movie Quote
ROWDY UDALL: In the meantime, we'll have the light on
fer ye.
Plot
A
loose series of "what if" vignettes about what life
would be like for humans in space is tied together by
documentary commentary from space engineers, mathematicians, inventors, and other tech experts. Billy Bob's
vignette appears in a droll sequence about a moon colony
administrator (Ramond Cruz) who views the hologrammed pitches of different
businesses hoping to get their franchises approved for the moon.
What Billy Bob Gets To Do
Billy
Bob appears in a very bright, orange blazer as a desktop
hologram, trying to sell a gravity-free motel chain to the moon
colony administrator. He puts a cute spin on the Tom
Bodette commercials (right down to the lazy fiddle music in the
background). I gotta ask ya: is Rowdy
Udall a great character name or what?!
Backstory
This VHS tape is produced by the Foundation for Advancement in Science and Education. It's an entertaining and sweet little public TV hour of speculation about what life in space might be like in the not-too-distant future. In what other film might you find BBT costarring with the likes of Weird Al, Governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura, and Superteacher Jaime
Escalante?
