BILLY BOB:  You got yer Brooks 'n' you got yer Dunn.

Plot
A full spectrum of Arista Records' number one hitmakers jam for their golden anniversary.  Artists performing in da house (the house being the Shrine Auditorium, where Billy Bob received his Oscar for SLING BLADE in 1997) include Barry Manilow, Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin, Sarah McLachlan, Puff Daddy, Toni Braxton, Patti Smith, Whitney Houston, and (wait for it!) Kenny G.  Billy Bob shares introductory chores with Jay Leno, Kelsey Grammar, Melissa Etheridge, Natalie Cole, Carole King, Vivica A. Fox, Jeff Bridges, Danny Glover, and the ageless Dick Clark.

What Billy Bob Gets To Do
Billy Bob introduces Brooks & Dunn (with Lee Roy Parnell) performing the old B.W. Stevenson hit My Maria and Alan Jackson doing Chattahoochee for the C&W segment of the program.  Earlier in the show, he gets to bop along with Jeff Bridges and the rest of the crowd to (watch for it!) Santana's Smooth.

Backstory
The Patti Smith performance of Because the Night (with Sarah McLachlan on piano) is the DVD's highlight for this reporter. Weaker are the video medleys of Arista Hits in 5-year clips, giving the short shrift to such artists as Dionne Warwick, the Thompson Twins, the Kinks, Carly Simon, and the Grateful Dead.
