Movie Quote
JACK POTTER: We drove out to Truxworth,
where the only gene the locals didn't share was hygiene.
Plot
Written by Billy Bob and his partner Tom Epperson, then pureed and denatured
by a few other writing teams, CAMOUFLAGE stars Leslie Nielsen as
a grizzled P.I. who takes on would-be actor Marty Mackenzie (played by
newbie Lochlan
Munro) as a partner. They investigate some suspicious doings
around a gravel pit in a small town, and it all becomes a kind
of U-TURN meets HUNTER'S
BLOOD in the Pacific Northwest.
What Billy Bob Gets To Do
We hope he got to collect some residual checks.
Backstory
Astute Billy Bob fans will note
references to his favorite car (the Chevelle, which Leslie
Nielson drives) as well as the fact that Leslie Nielsen's
detective office is located in the Taft Building at Hollywood
and Vine (where Billy Bob once sold fountain pens by phone). Nielsen
is very good, rising above the washed-up P.I. clichés to
give us a no-nonsense, world-weary professional despairing
because he has been saddled with a total idiot for a partner. CAMOUFLAGE also stars
Patrick
Warburton (possessor of one of the warmest voices in filmdom) and an actor we're always glad to see, William
Forsythe. And for the hopelessly Devo-ted, Mark
Mothersbaugh did the score. James Keach (Stacy's brother)
also directed STARS
FELL ON HENRIETTA.
