Movie Quote
HOMER CARLTON: [re: his machine gun]
Well, what do you think? Stock in or out?
MERCENARY: I don't think it's going to make much
difference.
HOMER CARLTON: Well, I do, see. 'Cause when it's out I
kinda feel like a pussy, you know what I'm saying. And when it's
in, it just feels like, I don't know, meaner or something and
when I kill the son of a bitch I wanna feel good about myself. I
wanna feel solid.
Plot
A nasty and corrupt oil magnate Jennings (Michael Caine) wants
to open an environmentally destructive refinery right on top of
Eskimo land in Alaska (sounds like Dick Cheney's kind of
guy!). Seagal plays Forest Taft, a disgruntled
employee/Eskimo who must thwart Jennings' scheme before the
Eskimos lose their land rights. Wouldn't a casino have
been a cheaper win-win situation for all?
What Billy Bob Gets To Do
As ornery, trigger-happy henchman Homer, he
gets to ride a horse! We understand he hurt his shoulder
while shooting the equine scenes.
Backstory
We like to think of this film as BILLY JACK ON ICE.
Steven Seagal's foray across the frozen tundra of Alaska
co-stars Joan Chen, John C. McGinley, R. Lee Ermey (a character
actor who, by the way, has his own Sideshow Toys action figure),
and the always-wonderful, ever-game Michael Caine. Michael
Caine sports his second-silliest hairstyle ever (the first being
the perfectly dry coif he displayed right after being pulled out
of the sea in JAWS 4: THE REVENGE). His inky black mousse
job gives us a clue as to where Jennings stores his oil
reserves.
