Distributor
Warner Brothers

Director
James Keach

Character
Roy

Movie Quote
ROY:  Who'd you think you was dealing with?  Rockefeller?

Plot
An uncanny, Dustbowl-era drifter named Mr. Cox (played by Robert Duvall) wanders Texas with his cat.  He becomes convinced that he has sniffed out a potential oil strike under the land of an impoverished farm family.  The family puts everything they have into the potential oil strike, with only Mr. Cox's sixth sense about petrol to assure them.

What Billy Bob Gets To Do
Mr. Cox hires his old pal, Roy, to oversee the drilling on the Days' farm.  Roy gets to tell farmer Don Day (played by Aidan Quinn) that the ever-confident Mr. Cox has yet to make a successful oil strike.  Ruh-roh!

Backstory
We adore this lovely Depression Era piece that also stars Frances Fisher, the late Victor Wong, Brian Dennehy, and Park Overall, as well as one beautifully behaved cat.  It's directed by James Keach, who also directed CAMOUFLAGE, and produced by Clint Eastwood (hence the Warners release) and Texas-born actor Steve Railsback (who must be related to Philip Railsback, who wrote the screenplay).
